New clinic on track for August opening

As you may be aware, we’re moving closer to opening our brand new getback facility in The Grace complex on Albert Rd in South Melbourne.

We’re excited about bringing our local community a bright, expanded new space that will offer a range of new getback services.

In addition to our existing physiotherapy and osteopathy services, the facility will specialise in lifestyle exercise and safe strength training, predominantly for those of us aged over 40.

The new expanded facility will offer a range of new getback programs.

The new facility will be fully getback branded as we complete the transition from Middle Park Physiotherapy. It will feature four treatment rooms and an extended rehabilitation and lifestyle exercise clinic with a new generation of exercise devices for the knee, hip and shoulder.

Like our getback spinal program, the new devices for the knee, hip and shoulder will focus on training the deep stabilising muscles (rather than prime movers) around these major joints.

getback™ Clinical Director Geoffrey Mackay says that focusing on the stabilising muscles around joints enables people to improve their movement and functional strength for the everyday activities of their choice.

‘These stabilising muscles become more important as joints show degenerative change or people go through joint replacement surgery,’ he says.

‘Joint instability inhibits movement, and conversely if the joint is stable you develop a better range and quality of movement.’

Hip, knee and shoulder devices are bio-mechanically designed to ensure safe and controlled exercise therapy.

Programs will be available for specific problematic joints and will comprise of around 18 exercise therapy sessions.

Other programs are designed to co-ordinate multiple joints, which will allow people with more than one underlying issue to get back a range of functional movements.

getback™ South Melbourne is now opening up bookings for our ‘First 50’ foundation clients, who have already expressed an interest in the new programs.
